President Muhammadu Buhari.

The week long ceremonies marking the first anniversary of the installation of the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State, HRM Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, ended yesterday with a call by the monarch to President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the 2014 National Conference report as well as restructure the country.

The monarch reasoned that restructuring Nigeria remained the “ultimate solution” to the plethora of problems confronting the nation.

He said: “The ultimate solution to the plethora of problems facing this nation is restructuring of the country, which can be achieved by the implementation of the 2014 national conference report.

“It is obvious that the problem of Nigeria is a foundational one and the only solution to such a problem is to work on the foundation, which is basically restructuring of the country.”

The monarch said restructuring would also enable the various zones and regions to judiciously harness the numerous resources God has put in the entire nation and which would guarantee peace, justice and development.

He commended the President for sending Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to the Niger Delta region to engage the people on peace and security.

The monarch said the region is replete with problems which have been documented in various addresses presented to Osinbajo during his visit.

He cautioned the presidency not to only celebrate the relative peace and high crude oil production in the area but to also give attention to the numerous problems confronting the people.

The Pere urged the entire Ijaw nation to continue to promote the tradition and cultures of their ancestors as well as educate their children to communicate in the Ijaw language at all times.
